Sandbags are your property. You are responsible for proper disposal. Used or old sandbags should be disposed of in dumpsters or bins provided specifically for cleanup (if provided by your local officials). Do not dump sandbags in rivers, creeks, streams, canals, ditches, roadway gutters, or storm drain inlets.

Limited prefilled bags are available for residents who can’t fill their own, and sandbags are available for Cottonwood Heights residents only. You must show identification with a Cottonwood Heights address to pick up sandbags.

The public works team will also be delivering sand and bags to specific locations for group sandbagging. They will select these locations on a historic basis and will announce the locations later.

Draper City residents who want to fill sandbags must go to the Public Works building (72 E Sivogah Ct.) during business hours – Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and provide their name and address. Residents may receive up to 15 bags per household. The sand will be located west of the Public Works building and is accessible at any time. You will need to bring your shovels. Gloves are recommended.

The Stormwater Department prepares sandbags for residents to use in the event of a flood emergency each spring.

At this time, each resident may pick up a maximum of 25 sandbags from the west dirt lot of Butterfield Park, 6212 West Butterfield Park Way, near the RV dump site.

Sandbag resources are prioritized for residents and businesses on Big Cottonwood Creek.

**Volunteers are encouraged to fill bags and leave at the station for use on Big Cottonwood Creek. Limit 25 sandbags per household daily.

Stations have sand and bags on-site – please bring your own shovel and gloves. Fill bags about ½ full to leave room to tie the bag shut and to create a tighter seal between the sandbags when stacked.

Empty sandbags are available free of charge for Midvale residents. Identification may be required. To get your sandbags, check in at the second floor of City Hall. Once you have your bags, go to the filling station to fill them with sand.

If needed, residents can get the materials for sandbags from the South Jordan Public Works Department for up to 15 bags. Sandbags are available for South Jordan residents with the potential for flooding in their areas.
